The square aspect (harmonic 4) belongs to the family of tense aspects, which derive from the division of the circle (360º) by the number 2, as the opposition (harmonic 2).
To understand better its meaning, the number 4 can be decomposed into 2 * 2, clearly showing the emphasis on the number 2 (harmonic 2), related with opposition, blockages and polarity.
Unlike the opposition aspect (harmonic 2), which causes practically total blockage, the square causes friction that make dificult the action, but does not completely paralyze it, just like an airplane, minutes before taking land, with the landing gear unfolded.
In some cases, the friction generated by the square can temporarily slow down the action, until the accumulated tension generates a thrust forward with the ability to drag the elements that caused the inhibition.
Square aspects can be combined with one or two opposition aspects to form the aspect patterns 'Energy Triangle' (('T-Square') or 'Energy Square' ('Grand Cross'), in which the opposition forces to follow the difficult path of the square, which, in turn, allows the obstacle or blockage to be overcome, moving from one end of the polarity to the other.
